Effort no 1 failed.

Effort no 3 - 3.08 pm EDT ......yes, no 2 failed as well.

As I was about to say, and there we went >>>> gone.

A Three Stooges presentation was more logical. At least they were funny. Well, at the time they were.

Some are born old
Others will never be old
More will follow the logical steps to getting old
It is those who are old before their time - they should be pitied or not

They make the characters in our stories

Nature is off to a good start.

The geese have geeselings,
and the turkeys proved again, as a species they should not be, yet, in the wild they do well - and in captivity they are the masters of dead.
Of all the birds, their chicks are the worst. Stupid, obstinate, deaf, disorientated, blind, suicidal ... and those are the good points.

Yes - goslings ... was testing there, is the class taking note.

The human side - I tend to ignore the human side as much as possible - the 'lost son' was welcomed back into the fold.
The fattened calf was sold a while back to pay the bills, we had to settle for chicken.
Now we have to wait and see, ....
As for the other 'lost ones', some are still so lost, I hold no hope for them. I can only hope. Maybe more miracles are possible.

Miracles:
True miracles are not common. Here I am not referring to a child, who, without prompt or bribe, make the bed, clean the room, and leave everything as neat as can be. This is a rarity, and not a miracle. This can revert back to normal in the snap of finger.
A true miracle is something that happens, to which no normal explanation can be attached.
There are a few which have passed through my life. Some of such tiny importance as to be dismissed as pure imagination. Like when I am moving in a direction, so set in my way that an elephant has to take a detour around me, and all of a sudden - bam - boom - time-out.
Stop the bus, let us see what happened.
In hindsight, who organized that 'time-out'?
Some one did, and it was not anyone I know.
I do think that I have a guardian angel who interferes in my everyday.
Is that a miracle or standard practice? One day I may know, for now, I will settle for the angel.

Dear Blog,

I feel like a log, or as Og would say, "What the G happened?"

That is what I would like to know.
I do know I entered a blog log, Sunday past.
That I did not check up to see if it was loaded, well, that may be true.
Still, the 'Title' was entered - why not the body of the blog as well?

The grass is always greener on the other side.
Now why would that be?
Do they get more rain, have better soil, or have more fertilizer ? (as this is an all-age entry ...)

I would settle for the fertilizer angle.

If properly applied, fertilizer does wonders.

As I roam among the Yahoo news entries, and read all the blogs, it is amazing to see what keeps people busy.

And that is from the positive side.

On the negative side, the manure is stifling. The heaps are bigger, the rain less, and the soil so saturated with ill-gotten gains, deeds, and thoughts, it is a wonder to still find any form of untainted life.

Then to see who peddles all these wares.

It is almost impossible to pinpoint a spot on the world map where any sanity is left.

Here and there, little islands are left, minds who see good, mouths which utter positive words, and hands which help.

The beasts are going about their business, the world of nature goes about its business as usual.

Man's world goes that way, nature adapts, which ever way.

Time and tide waits for no man. Full moon tomorrow.

High tide - and the moon does not have any effect upon man ?

On fires and such unusual things: -

This week saw a few major outbreaks of veld-fires. (Dutch - veldt)

As the wind was blowing like only an August wind can, (53 km/h reported) and the grass and trees are at the dry period before the summer rains, the stage was set for disaster.

22/23 August 2011 Disaster came as if on queue ... fires started up all over the west, north, and east.

Roads were closed; places and houses burnt down; stock and wildlife were lost; and the human toll was fortunately almost nil.

We had a few minor fires all around us.

Minor, as in - these were controlled fairly quickly, our neigbours had baled their grazing, thus making it easy to douse the flames.

Most of the other fires were also contained quickly, as the fire breaks were of more use this year.

The wind was moderate on the days when our local fires started.

We will have to wait and see. There are still many days left till the green grass is here.

The first Muscovy ducklings arrived this week, two, the rest of the eggs were rotten or did not make it.

The geese will follow in a few weeks time. What the end tally will be, we have to wait and see.

The battle of the Rats is still on the go.

King Rat and all his offspring seem to be still ahead.

A few heads have rolled, and yet we battle on.
The end is not yet in sight.
We need bigger guns.

All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence; then success is sure.

Way back in history:

♫.... ♪

There was a man who had a boat;
And on this boat he took pairs of cats;
Why the dam cats did not catch the ratz'
That I will never know? ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫

The battle is on the go.

Since the beginning of time, did man and mouse - share a louse.
The men fell down, and the mouse was a rat, who won the day.

Plague after plague, to this day, we still have these little pests.

They don't mind sharing with man, ''a louse for you, a crumb for me.''

The trouble with the rat race is that even if you win, you're still a rat. - Lily Tomlin (1939 - )

The 'eagle' who terrorized the local population of ducks and geese, is most possibly an African Marsh Harrier. Still to be confirmed.

The ostriches are unofficially re-united. All four are roaming around here. The pair are entertaining us with their mating dance. Something worth seeing.

Still the battle of the Rat goes on.

I will believe almost anything you tell me.

Why, I know a man, who knew a man, who had a parrot which could speak ten different languages.

The stories I have been told - and they are all true!

About miracles, spacemen and aliens, natural phenomena, unusual natural events, ghosts, and even animal stories.

I believe them all, after all, they would not tell me stories, would they?

Mother Nature forgot to tell a few of my 'friends', summer has gone, autumn has passed, and it is now winter.

There are many water birds around here, and the 'eagle' has invited a friend over for a hunt.

Even a pair of fish eagles paid us a visit.

Even the foolhardy or misguided swallows are still battling it out.

Food must be scarce, these raptors do not usually pay us a visit. Now we have ducks, geese, and many other water birds, the fare must be rewarding.

Another 'rat' day, the tally, 6 down, and more to go. Ratzzzz !

I am perfect, why - even my mistakes are perfact.

Apologies to who ever wrote, '''my boomerang won't come back'''

The saga of the Emu ended in a rather predictable way.

It was going to be one of the two, either be caught and kept in captivity, or, someone was going to see it as food.

It was hunted down with dogs, and turned into food.

Unfortunately, the law states that it is the property of the land owner on which it is at that moment.

That is it.

Blue Monday:

A bad day for a few rats. They have moved into the bird's cages, and that is a no-no.

8 rats later, and a few escapees, tomorrow again. As they wreak havoc with the birds, unfortunately for them. That is it, no more mercy.

The sad and the unbelievable - the story of the eternal internet failures. Now, if someone had to tell me this story, I would need a large pinch of salt to go with it.
I have been trying for a week to add this blog to my list.
Every time I start, the Internet fails, this was one of the worst weeks ever. Even now, this is not the first attempt

Attempt no ....

11th of July 2011 - next attempt

Sunday, more than a week ago, we decided to go and seek the illusive Emu.
We, being Prince and myself, as we drove alongside the corn - there it was - a few feet away from us, and off Prince went, chasing the Emu or maybe hunting, stalking, or trying to keep up with it. Hither and thither we went, I lost sight of them (which was most of the time), and then, eventually I had my opportunity, the Emu came out from the corn, and I could corner him against the fence with the LDV*. The plan worked well, I got it into a triangle with the fence, and as we were ready to scoop it up, it coolly stepped through the barbed wire fence, into the pasture on the other side. I looked on in utter amazement, nary a tail feather out of place, there it went, gone.

Monday morning, Prince rings me up, there the Emu was, strolling along the road, and then Prince followed it on foot. His girlfriend went up ahead to cut it off at the road junction. Emu was having none of this ... next thing, it went right through a 12 line-barbed fence. A normal cattle fence has 6 strands, and a 12 strand fence is to keep game in. Emu is apparently not game. There it went, and we have not heard anything since.

Part of the bonus is, we found an ostrich nest with eggs in it. One was badly cracked, and the other two went home, and one was broken already. The photo of the one Prince emptied, is on my F/B. We had ostrich egg for two meals in a row, after all, it is 24 chicken eggs big. Taste, it is like a chicken egg, only more of it.

The ostriches are all accounted for, all 4 are back. The other spare male, which I now 'own', is still running on its own. My neighbor said if we could get it with the group, we could have it. He is a big onery male, who is not interested in seeing the benefits we offer.

A bird in the hand, is worth two in the bush ~ obviously this person never tried catching Emu or Ostrich.

Well, something changed about the internet. Phoning and bitching - maybe does work. Let's wait and see.

LDV: Light Delivery Van = Also called a truck in other parts of the universe.

Here we refer to a 'truck' as a very big vehicle used to transport goods.

A LDV would normally be a lighter version, made to transport two or three people and a cow or a few pigs. Maybe one Emu, if you could catch it.

Love thy neighbor, as thy love thyself.

Somewhere in that line, there is something wrong ?

In order to care for another, I have to care more for myself ?

It is a strange word, LOVE

... again today, a young person of 15, felt so little positive, and so much negative, that she ended her life. I do not know her, she went to the same school as did the Prince. I am only wondering, can it be that bad ? All over the news, the strangest stories about people not being able to cope.

And then ... just down the road, someone else is putting up a battle against all odds, fighting cancer or disease, or a 'bad' marriage or some unhappy home situation.

What a strange world we live in. Let us not forget wars, and rumors of wars.

Battles, so many battles to fight. A few are storms in a teacup, others are full pitched - no holds barred, and we battle onward. May the 'best' man or woman win, or the last one standing ?

We cowards run away, to live and fight another day. Why do we worry - we worry about the other day !

The male ostrich is accounted for, one to go. (re: previous blog)

Another thing, the 15th was also a full moon. A small item that went amiss in all the hullabaloo about the eclipse. The full moon was at its zenith 2014 and the eclipse started 2022, with the zenith at 2213.

This would have been important to the Vampire types. Also other people who would have had to sacrifice a chicken or something ?

Must have been a real bind in the days before print, when you, as Merlin or some other Druid, had to have this information on hand.

Things have really improved. Maybe crystal balls are now mass-produced.

There were thoughts on bio rhythm, more on this at a later date.

And Muhpry's Law.
