As a person who has a brother who fought this battle due to a head injury, I understand your poem so perfectly. I watched my brother experience some of these and it's no fun. Your poem gives the reader a chance to kind of feel what the writer is going through.
Your poem displays an act that very few people do today and have gotten away from. Prayer. Prayer is one of THE most important parts of our day. We should pray when we rise and when we go to bed. We should pray daily and WORLD PEACE can't be prayed for enough. God should always be the center of our lives. Thank you.
I loved the imagery of this poem. I know the feeling so well. Your writing paints the picture so the reader can almost imagine himself in that position.
The structure and form of the poem, excellent.
The theme, Humorous but at the same time, you had to feel bad for the young man.
You have absolutely made my day. The memories flooded my mind like a dam broke. The treasures, the stuff you couldn't have but still had to go in and look around. The pickle barrel, the checkerboard, the old men spitting. You have painted a picture that almost brought me to tears. I remember those so well. My friend, you have written a beautiful poem. Thank you so very much.
Hello Touch Stone:
The first stanza gives this poem a good kick start. Even though it's a small poem it says a lot. A reason to stay, a legendary story.
It's easy to read with no distractions. Love, peace, and pleasure. Good ending. Good poem. Thanks.
First of all: Some sounds really happy that summer is here. I just hope it doesn't get too hot. I'm looking forward to getting my pool set back up again.
Secondly: I don't want to burn. That's not something I would cheer about.
Thank you for this piece of writing. I live with 4 grand-kids and my wife and I babysit one which makes five, five days a week. Sometimes it's hard to just stop and breath but we love them and wouldn't take a million for them. But you are right, it's the little things that makes life worth living.
The Grammer could us a little tweaking but all in all, this was a good piece. If everyone would spread a little kindness and love it would be a much better world to live in. To much hate and to much anger and way too much killing. Some how some way it must stop. Thank you for this piece.
I just read your poem, Crossing Over and really enjoyed it. You mention people coming back from death and sharing what they see. I love to listen to those stories. I can't get enough of them.
Death is not a moment
it's the essence of forever
These two lines are the ones the reader needs to pay attention to. Eternal life after death. They must ask themselves, "am I ready"?
Wowwsy wow wow wow. Does that bring back some Bat-memories. Never missed an episode of the Caped Crusaders. Every time they were on my brother and I were glued to the TV. I can't believe someone has actually written a poem about that old show but you did a fantastic job. You nailed it. Loved it.
I myself grew up knowing that my laughter was a very unusual laugh. My dad would not let me watch funny movies on TV after a certain hour because I laughed so loud it kept the neighbor's awake. I never tried to hold it back because there was no use. It was going to come out one way or the other. My wife and I would go to the theater to watch a funny movie and people would be laughing at me laughing. A person who is truly gifted with laughter can't do anything about it. My dad said that I was one of the happiest people he ever met. I have eight grandchildren now and they all love to laugh so I can understand what you are saying about how some people try to control it. Don't. Let it out. It's good for the soul. It really is the best medicine.....
I like this style of poetry Dave. I think I am going to enjoy following you and studying your writing. This style is very interesting. It looks like a lot of fun.
Like you I am a grandfather but not yet a great grandfather. Thanks for allowing me to join your group. Do I need to send some points to get in and how?
I have enjoyed WDC a lot but I'm still stumbling around. I accept any and all advice.
I have to agree that sometimes computers do get a little frustrating and old fashion US mail is the way to go. Sometimes I want to pull my hair out. My mom finally gave her internet up and all she does on her computer is play games. So I think a lot of people are going to agree with you here.
I have to say, every time you look around someone is taking a selfie or group photo, it's amazing. Cell phones are everywhere. Kids today will never now what it was like to talk on a phone that was attached to the wall and could not go anywhere. They are missing out on so much. But I have to say I liked the poem. No more click click click.
I like the form of this poem and it seems (you are free to correct me) like the writer is making light of himself here. I like people who can laugh at themselves. When other people are laughing at you, you can freely laugh along. Your poem was excellent I enjoyed it. Thank you.
Beating that enemy is sometimes a very difficult journey. I just lost a very dear friend recently. I pray that your friend remains free of this cancer and is able to live a long and healthy life. It sounds like that the person in the poem is one that enjoys life and had a good attitude through this ordeal and didn't let it get them down. Look forward to more of your writing.
First off: O some of the awful memories. Why smoke and drink. Asking ourselves that question the next day with hangovers.
Secondly: your poem was a pleasure to read I enjoyed it very much.
But why oh why do we indulge in this pleasure. I always asked myself these same questions.
Thirdly: A poem about something that will never end. We will always go back time and again and do it over.
Very good poem.
