The object is to teach an old dog new tricks. (not much hope ... )

My way ...
Not really, there are always options, and I will choose as it suits my idea at the moment.
Not always what I consider right or wrong, rather, the one which would fit best into the situation.
This line of thought came about, prompted by a radio program.

The guest for the day was a Military Chaplain, and he related parts of his life, and his choice of music.
His life's story is quite remarkable, in his spare time he also earned five (5) gold medals running the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comrades_Marathon
All his life in the Military. Wife, kids, and grandchildren, as he closed off; "I did it our way."

Life sometimes decide for us, we have no choice in the matter.
With that we have to live.
We can kick, rant, shout, or offer tears , this will not change some things.
Now to accept and live with it.

How it is done, how one decides to live, how to accept, and act, would hopefully be with the words "I did it my way."

And be at peace with it all

It is still dry out there.
Some one said 'never start with the weather', well; farmers do.
It is the start and the end of a day.
It is a universal subject.
In general, the weather is offered at the end of the news, that is till ...
Till Mother Nature throws a fit.
When those siblings come to visit ...
Then the weather is the main news.

A young life, a life I know, was ended in a short, stupid way.
Boys will be boys, add a few beers, and they get to be big and strong.
The Other one was stronger, or faster, or something, the Other is now in trouble with the law, and He is no more.
What a waste.
As fast as that.

At the other end of the scale, another end, the end of a relationship.
The cards were against it working, the roll of the dice never gave a winning number.
Then, they did try their luck, and it did not give a prize, unless the 'child' is considered.
Children are always the prize, who pay the price.
Let us throw the dice again, or choose a new card.

A movie of way back, still one of the greats - The Magnificent Seven - the story, so-so - a group of people, being picked on by a bully and his gang, go to find help.

In steps the heroes.

Watched it again, a while back.

The story line has been used over and over, still a success, simple, no frills, maybe I should try it.

My Wdc birthday is this month, the 5th I surfed my first waves, seven years ago, (7).

Consider the general statement, a child's basic foundation is laid within the first seven years of life.

Does that mean I know it all, or does that mean I should have a decent foundation now, to build on ?
I think I should start to study bricklaying.

More babies, goslings, and other stuff.

Like clockwork, the days it takes to form a new life - there they are, goslings, and baby ostrich chicks, all on one day.
The turkeys are running behind, and soon the antelope will follow with their fawn.
Spring is here!

It has not rained to brag about, the flies and mozzies are still in short supply, for the swallows are here - seeking their share of the bounty.

Soon enough, all will be as it should be ...

Says who ?

Politicians have their say, bankers agree, governments quibble, and the world's economy is on the couch for a mindset read.

Things in the unnatural world is ill.

Visions of the young made the news this month.
A few from afar, some closer to home, tragedy abound.

Then there is hope for some,
a new future for other,
and best wishes, prayers, and positive thoughts for a few ...

Time will tell, the tides will turn, the world will go on to another year.

There is the silly cartoon of a snail sitting on top of a tortoise, shouting with pure glee "weeee!".

Time sure goes by so slow at times, and when one looks back, the question is "Where has it gone to ?"

It is close to spring again, the green is sprouting on the lawn, birds are dressed in new colors, the geese are a laying, and the ostriches are a brooding.

All round the new season sticks its head out.

It was a good and bad day, as days go.

Talking about the snails, took the big snails out from their 'beds', where they dug themselves in for winter.
It is their first winter on the farm, a new climate zone for them.
Then found a 'riot' of ordinary brown garden snails among the lilies, already moving about.

The find of the day was a few of the tiny 'chocolate spirals', this is my name for them, as there is no other name yet.
Shiny brown spirals which shine polished in the sunlight.

T T Cloete 31 MAY1924 - 29 JULY 2015.

Work to follow -----

As always, an idea comes along and presents itself as a full feature or a flash.

Most flashes pass away almost as fast as those arrived.

Ideas stay, to pester one with their ever present being, insistent to be attended to - all ignoring has no value.

Thoughts are not enough to solve a problem.
Fair, thoughts are required, lots of lots of thinking is needed.
Eventually all this must be converted into action.

To be ... maybe done

07/17/2015

Which in days gone by, would have been the 17th of July 2015AD

Action has grown from thoughts, which was an idea once.

Slowly, very slowly, the tides are turning, the darkness of night makes promises of a daybreak, and maybe, just maybe, the goal will be clear.

The goal is simple, fair, reachable, and legal.

All that is required is focus.

"Knowledge is of two kinds. We know a subject ourselves, or we know where we can find information upon it. When we enquire into any subject, the first thing we have to do is to know what books have treated of it. This leads us to look at catalogues, and at the backs of books in libraries."
— Samuel Johnson (Boswell's Life of Johnson)

Imagine what those ol' coots would have made of Google and co.

We went to see the site of the fall-out.

This site has received polluted water since the early 60's from the mine.
It is now almost a moonscape, yet, there is a plant doing its best to grow, and it is doing well.
There are many of them, in full bloom, low down, not much higher than my ankle, and if viewed closer, quite beautiful, as plants go.

I should have brought the camera, or asked the fella there with the big camera, to take shots for me.
Shots which may never be again. I must go back, and get those shots!

Especially one of the brown and white cow, with her calf next to her, her sad face, (if ever a cow could look sad, this was it) as she waited to get a turn at the water.
We left, there were other scenes, other sites, more trouble spots.

And yet, here I am, two days later, at 3am, revisiting the cow and her calf, wonder if she will make it ...

I did state her case at the meeting, hers and all the others, did anybody hear, I doubt -

They were more concerned about their own issues, the damage which will come their way, I must be silenced.

That I cannot be - I can not be silent anymore, for only my voice can speak for that cow, and all like her.

They need water, and they need it now.

The mine stopped the water as of the 22nd May, no notice, the reason is not acceptable.
This is now 48 days on.

The true reason is greed.

Greed and power, and testing the ground to see what they can get away with.

Every one is doing what they can to ride this storm.
D-day is still to come.
All I can do is speak, and not be quiet anymore.

Maybe I will be heard.

Then I can tell them about the sad looking cow and her calf, and all cow wants, is water.

Let us consider the facts ...

How much is enough ?

When one has a home, a reasonable car, enough money till the end of the month, and a freezer with food in it - is that enough ?

Add a few basic luxuries like TV, internet, mod cons - is that enough ?

Got a new fridge, (which works too well, it freezes the milk at the lowest setting) as the old one is 'old'. Is this enough - already ?

Somehow, the word 'enough' does not mean anything, as humans never have enough.

We are getting a new TV contact, the one with sooo many channels, now for that new big screen, and a new easy chair, and maybe the curtains needs replacing, as they clash with the TV.
Yes it does!
So I was told.

When will enough be enough, by the way, have you seen the latest in Laptops ?

Rubbish, we have heaps of rubbish ...

As a result of modern living, man, modern man; (the one who owns two cars, lives in an unpaid-mortaged-abode, have 2,5 kids, and work 9 to 5, that one) produces heaps of rubbish every year.

The stats are there; the system which is huge, feeds the monster, which lives in a landfill somewhere.

Tons and tons of feed.

Ever so slowly, man is looking at all this seriously, and beginning to 'mine' this asset.

Scrap, normal run of the mill scrap is well known. Old and smashed cars are in this graveyard.

I actually own my own scrapyard, fair enough, it's called recycling, it sounds better than a scrapyard.
Still the same thing.

There they are, sorted;- one cent scrap, so much per weight, two cent scrap, so much per item, and then the jewels of the operation, so much per ounce or pound.

I am still saving up my hoard for a rainy day, and my son markets it as he sees rain every day.

Where is this going, into big business, and this is now part of my safe little world.

Big business.

The new buzz word, a 'thing' on my doorstep, who has invited itself into my world. Big business.

More on this is to come.
