Blogging, to take over the world.
The object is to teach an old dog new tricks. (not much hope ... )

The beginning of a story which was never even thought of, was never supposed to be, yet happened, this is it.

Most people live a lie. There is the perfect lie, the perfect life, the perfect everything, all ending in an aura of the perfect imperfection.

Yesterday, this person, a political bigwig, who objected strongly to a group of students, they apparently used the 'salute' of the Third Reich for some reason.
He hotly took them to task - rightly so (?) - and while he took them on, he was saluting with the clenched fist of his creed - rightly so (?).
And in the privacy of my being, my salute would have been the V for Victory sign - I can never remember which direction the backhand should face.
Freedom ...

At the close off of a story, it can be decided, should it be open ended; that is - close off with a question mark, exit with a bang, or use an anticlimax.
Whichever way, an author can play around with the story.
In real time, in real life, it will be as it is and most will have no say in the matter.
The only offer one will have is - what did one leave behind ?

Brown, as in white and brown is the color of the Basset, and along side him, his trusty mate, the Sheepdog dressed in black and white ---
Yes, they are back.
It must be a bad day at the ranch if even the dogs run away.

Now I am assuming again, I do this far too frequently, this assuming thing.
Who said assume is about an ass, you, and me ?

My neighbors dogs have taken a shine to me - no - I did not offer them a bone, scratched their backs, or even promised them any delight of any kind.
Yet - here they are again, and still hoping for something.
The Ark is full, there is no more place, how did Noah feel about the situation ?

Then I went to oogle google about the name for my story, lo and behold, it was already taken.
There is not much new under the sun and still, new things are found every day.

The moon will be full at 1.53pm today.

Now I ask you, 1,53pm, the middle of the day - who is going to notice ?

Yesterday was the day of the Valentine.

Less said about that day, the better.

The argument is that 'love' seems to be being replaced by a feeling of 'what?'

As the song says, ♫♪ "What's it all about, Alfie?"

Romantic people still go about their way, the young and old, still serve their cause.
Roses are sold, cards sent, little soft toys given, all is well with Cupid.

*Phonograph* Love is in the air.
*Heart*

The Cuckoo decided to go off his feed on Sunday.
So far it has been force fed, and looking much better.
Raising Caine is not as easy as one would think it is.

Friday, and we are still going strong. The only problem is - in which direction ?

Today is the last day of this month of February. not much news for half a month.

Caine, the Cuckoo, is doing well.

And the direction may becoming clearer, only it is not the road we want to take.
Then - sometimes one has to go where no one else will go.

18:16 j2rr: there's a blog entry done

This entry was prompted by a question on the road of re-incarnation

As I did not ask C's permission; this person will have to be anon till i get sued or get permission.

This was in answer to the question; wb ? (you had to be there to know - that is in the Chat-House.)

Which in turn was a question on my habit of being booted from the chat-room.

Why I get booted is another question.

All of this has nothing to do with the blog which I wrote and never saved ~

It was Monday after-all, blue at that.

Week's end, and the missing blog is still missing.

The empty nest is empty till forever, it is the way of such things, some things do not change.
Once something or someone has left the nest - no shouting, sulking, or brooding will change anything.
Yet we will always hope, hope somehow the empty space will be filled.
Even if it is an unrelated event or person -
anything is better than the emptiness.

Monday - 27th

A strange thing to see, as we were standing outside, doing a late afternoon, sunset, cloud inspection of the thundershowers in the distance; swallows started crowding the sky above us.

First we saw a few, which we thought normal, and within minutes, hundreds were coming from all the compass directions. Rather low to start with - going higher and higher, more and more added to this vortex as if a school of sardines.

Something must have started a feeding frenzy and yet we saw nothing. No termites were flying, which would be normal at this time of year, and under these conditions quite visible.

The vortex went higher and higher, till eventually they were only visible by watching them through the binoculars. Then early darkness threw a blanket over the show and a few swallows booked into the trees for the night.

Still we are speculating as to what prompted this show.

Wednesday - 29th

On the lawn there were the screams "Fight, fight, fight ..."

The glossy starling dropped down to inspect the scrapping two birds, who were refereed by the male sparrow. Consider a starling's liking for a free meal if it became available.

If ever two female sparrows could be having a cat-fight, this was it. This was a battle to the end, no holds barred, everything thrown into - even the kitchen sink.

What started it is anybody's guess, still - it was serious.

A turtle dove showed up as a spectator, and a few other birds were looking at the show.

The human walked up to see why two female sparrows would be going at it, and they broke up, flew into the tree, and then promptly fell to the ground again in full fury. The male fussing around all the time.

This carried on for quite a while, with the male somehow seeming wanting to try and break up the fight.

They took the argument up into the trees, and moved away fighting all the time.

The only thing which may be on the table is:

Beware a woman scorned ?

A common saying to say, one has an advantage and should be happy with it - a bird in the hand.

For me it means another mouth to feed, another box (world) with something in it, another interesting visitor to my world.

Birds are one of my main hobbies. It was my aim in life to own as many birds as I could get.
I wanted a bird farm, aviaries filled with all the breeding birds which would be practical to keep.

A lot of bird specie are not practical to keep as they exceed normal aviary offers.

Somehow it never became the world I wanted it to be, as life kept demanding its pound of flesh.
Blood and all, life is not fussy that way.

Yesterday, as I was minding my own business, which includes inspecting all the weaver nests the genet has ripped from the tree, there was this baby bird.
Now it is a bird in the hand, which has to be fed, bed, and cleaned.

An unusual visitor it is, Chrysococcyx caprius - Diederik's Cuckoo.
It is a very pretty bird when mature with its green and white coat.
The Cuckoo is known as laying its egg in the nest of another bird, who will then happily raise this little intruder.

Now me and the weavers have the same problem - raising Caine.
A fitting name I would think - Caine.

After due oogling at Google, it will have to be Cain McCaine.

Working on this :

Cain's blog.

There I was, hanging around, minding my own business ... (yes, I do mind my own business - the same as everybody else around here) when in popped the genet for a gander, or whatever is on the menu for the day.

Every one around here is on the take.

That one takes worms or insects, those over there seek seeds, and some are further up the food chain - they prefer their food dressed up in the skin - fresh, kicking, and alive.

Other are scavengers, then they are mostly food themselves being lowly insects. There are of course the super class, the hyena, vulture, and many more who are not fussy about what they eat. I was told, humans were the supreme class - top of the food chain. They will eat almost anything.

The genet has this habit of trying to sniff around inside the nest by hanging upside down on the branch. Sometimes the nest will become undone from the branch, and all will fall down, genet and all onto the ground below.

One of the weavers became dinner or something happened, because on the ground in a broken nest with no one to feed me - I was left alone.

Now one would think, maybe; poor little orphan bird, then keep in mind, it started off with me being orphaned by my egg-bearer.

Cuckoos have this thing about passing on their responsibilities over to others. Where and when it started we are still trying to work out. That Darwin bloke had an idea, only it was so far-fetched nobody took it serious. Still, we keep on doing it and it suits us fine. Cuckoos lay their eggs in other bird's nests, and they (the other birds, weavers in this case) take over the parenting chores without a cheep.

Yes, it is full moon again.

Let us blame this blog on the moon, or whatever force drives one to go down this path.

Writer's advice from other authors is something I take with a pinch of salt.

Let me put my case on the table:

I have bad habits, this I have already stated in many ways.

One is talking an awful lot.

Now imagine the following scene and decide which one suits the moment the best.

"Wow. "

"Holy ..."

"It was an itsy, bitsy, teenie, weenie, yellow polka-dot bikini
That she wore for the first time today ... "

"Tall and tan and young and lovely
the girl from Ipanema goes walking
and when she passes
each one she passes
goes ahhh
When she walks she's like a samba
that swings so cool and sways so gently
that when she passes each one she passes goes ahhh"

Adverbs and adjectives are there for a reason - use them wisely

That extra 15 minutes:

The blogger could do well by spending 15 minutes more on blogs, and maybe even visit the blogging world out there.

Bloggers are becoming a force in their own right.

A few are making a name for themselves by getting noticed, and even getting into print.

Even if one does not get anywhere with it, or is not interested in getting anywhere, it is still fun and relaxing.

Blowing off steam, venting, getting on the soap box.

Give it a go.

Enemies

The word came up today; do you have enemies ?

Why waste perfectly good time on such a strange idea.

Unless a villain is needed in a story, what else would one want with such a notion.

There is way too many problems in life to even worry with having enemies.

To those who wish me ill, so be it.

I could not care less.

Best to me and all who move in my world.

For those who do not move in my world - may they have a safe journey - far away from me

This New Year's approach is prompted by my actions which will open the year.
The list is long and varied - as it takes three hours to relate all the issues involved - the list will be shortened to the following:

Consider me and mine first - first; second; and last:
And then the rest ...

'Cause some one said - Charity begins at home - and I keep on forgetting

Sunday eve, hot and humid, waiting for rain, and the new year to start in all earnest.
A positive outlook is required - anyone have an old used one laying around which I could acquire somehow ?
Willing to barter body-parts or favors for a good model.

Monday came and went - and a brilliant idea was hatched on Tuesday.
Brilliant ideas are only oversights which were laying around in the mind, getting ripe and ready for the plucking.

Friday is always a good day.
Today is the 10th already, and nothing much has happened so far this year.
Only I am much the wiser in mind and poorer in pocket for it.
Knowledge sometimes costs.

This may sound strange to many, who are sitting down to a plate of hot food.

Today is the day of feasting, should one be so blessed as to be able to feast.
A message comes with the day, a message badly and sadly needed - Goodwill to all mankind.

We had the quietest X-mas since way back.
The kids all have their lives, all beginning to sprout wings and flying nowhere.
The wings are there to cover the chicks.
That they are doing, hope they enjoy the hustle and bustle of taking over the reigns.

Saturday - 28th @ about 4pm
Today we were treated to a minor tornado.
A tornado is not a big thing here, the odd one comes along, causes a flutter, a bit of damage maybe and off it goes.
I have seen the aftermath of one a few years back, that was bad, as it hit town and ripped a road for itself as far as it went.
It went past the farm close by and it did do mischief at the neighbor's farm.

Today's one we saw coming and it passed south of us by a mile or two.
It did bring along a rain storm and we had almost two inches of rain in a short while.
Rain was falling from all directions, and a bit of minor damage to a few parts of the roof.

Should I cancel and ignore the new year altogether, consider it over and done with and start the next year ?
Doom and gloom is on the cards, looks at the list; in alphabetical order:
Animals
Beasts
Catz
Dogs ... to start off with.

Events to note this week:

Full moon will be on the 17th @ 11.28 local time.
This may be important to all Loonies, Vampires(?), Werewolves, and moon-gazers.
Please make allowances by referring to the international time table as is required at your personal location.

Or ignore this note, keep on reading, realize this is going nowhere and seek better reading matter, or proceed at your own peril.

Solstice will be at 1911H on the 21st December.
The others will call it Equinoxes.
There-after winter will start - one may not notice it immediately.
It has been brought to my attention - some may have spring soon - for now, they are having winter.

This is also the month of public holidays, school holidays, general holiday madness, and other types of holidays.
Looking at it positively: one could manage to do nothing all month long, if one would not mind joining a few associations, change religion frequently, abuse a Visa card and fly to a few countries, or stay in South Africa.

Here are so many events here, and this year was exceptionally different.

One of my personal favorite actors took the final bow.
Peter O' Toole exited on the 14th December 2013
For the movie buffs, Lawrence of Arabia, should be on the top list.
If one has not seen it yet, and war movies are acceptable, do see it.
The rest of his career was worth watching as well.

Monday, the 16th December, is a public holiday unique to this country.

Blood River, Private army of ANC, Day of Reconciliation

Thursday/Friday saw us leaving for the farm, stuff to do, peoples to see, and about time for a visit again.

It was the start of the internet misplacement and me getting more frustrated with the 'net.
Must say, I did learn a few new things about the 'net and used a few bad words in the process.
That is how the learning process works.

The highlight for me was the guinea fowl parade.
We were standing outside, enjoying the last rays of the day, when the guinea fowls started a racket behind the
cages.

As is normal for them, the trip to their sleeping place starts in the south, through the marsh area, up to and past the house, into the eucalyptus plantation.
This trip is never a quiet trip, the normal chatter between them is constant as the day has many stories to tell.
About worms, seeds, locusts, and other delights which the fowls find on their plate.

Today (Friday) they were not chatting and relaxed, browsing the bed site - no, not at all - there was this shrill alarm call; to warn all about the danger in the area.

I went to get the binoculars and got the leaders into my sight.
Anyone who has ever seen chickens find a threat, will know what this sight was like.

Necks outstretched, almost on tippy-toes, walking behind the foe, all in a line, there they went - and the foe?
The poor foe was my friend the 'feral' tabby cat, who was slinking as low as he could, trying to hide himself into the grass from these chattering fiends - who were proclaiming to all the world "Here goes death, beware!"

The party stopped at the tree-line, and I walked around the house and called to the cat, who very swiftly ran to me - his savior on the day - as those nasty guinea fowl was surely making his day miserable.

The guinea fowl was relieved to be rid of their nemesis, the tabby even more relieved, and I had a good show of life in the 'wild'.

We were on the farm for an emergency call around the end of November, the hail came down and messed with the roof.
It also stripped many trees down to their winter bareness - and depleted the bird life sadly.

I woke on Friday morning, and the first thing to greet me was the sound of silence.
There was no bird song - no sparrows to irritate me, no finches arguing about nest sites, not a garden bird of any type was around.

The hail was almost a month ago, and the trees are still mourning in their barren wear.

Tomorrow will be Chris'mas or is X-mas more acceptable ?
