poem about stress of senior year of highschool, written by me in March of 2019
Finals are coming up,
grades are being entered
That wave of senior year is
crashing down on me
and I have a confession

I never learnt to swim
So throw me a life vest,
cause I'm falling in the deep end

Prom's coming up
and I'm afraid I won't make it

Graduation, senior dues,
deciding which college to choose,
Endless decisions and reckless provisions
So many traditions
and stupid submissions

Colleges want essays and good scores
But I want to survive to see the age of 20
I want to breathe in the air
of another country
I want to live to see the world
without the crush of debt
crumbling down on my shoulders,
tying a lock to my ankle to drag wherever I roam

Changing my mind a million times
so so so many fines
accepted, declined
So much riding on one sentence
Examining their words with a magnifying glass

Coffee and never sleeping
Homework and never eating
Heartbreak an endless beating
sunken eyes, no feeling

I'm drowning in school
And I never learnt to swim
so throw me a life vest
Cause I might not make it to June sixth
