Thank you to The Beatles
In a world full of people,
Eleanor Rigby sits
in a bus stop shelter listening
to the voices
of "all the lonely people"
talking on their cell phones
to other lonely people.

Father McKenzie walks
down the aisles of a cathedral,
smiling
at the lonely people
staring at the screens of their smart phones.

Listen to the lyrics
reverberating through the air,
wondering why
in a world full of people
loneliness prevails.
