RDG 380 for Classroom Management Notebook
Entering the Classroom
Students will be expected to enter the classroom quietly. All students must be in their seats when the bell rings or they will be counted as tardy. I will encourage students to figure out their “travel plans” (to and from classrooms) so they can reach my classroom on time and with all required materials.
Class Rules
1) Come to class prepared
a. Bring materials
b. Come to class on time
c. Come ready to learn
2) Be respectful of fellow students and teachers
a. Be respectful of properties
b. Be respectful of feelings
c. Be respectful of the learning environment
3) Always try your best
a. Never say “I can’t”
b. Always try
c. Participate in class
Daily Procedures
1) Enter quietly, retrieve your folder/ textbook (if needed), and be seated before the tardy bell rings.
2) Complete the ‘Bell-Ringer’ activity. As per classroom rules, always try your best: “I don’t know” is never an accepted answer. You must also not use your notes or textbook unless directed otherwise. Bell-Ringers are a way for me to gauge understanding of the students. They are also the best study guide to use for tests.
3) When I finish taking roll we will begin with our lesson. Remembering CHAMPS, you are to remain in your seat during class unless given permission to.
4) When the bell rings, gather up your supplies (return textbooks to their proper place) and pick up any trash in your area. Wait for my signal to dismiss you.
Leaving Class
Before leaving the room, you must secure a hall pass (nurse, office, bathroom, ect.) from me. However, please take restroom breaks during lunch or between passing periods.
Taking Roll
Roll will be taken in the first 5 minutes of class after the tardy bell rings. I will usually do this during the Bell-Ringer. If you are not present for roll call it will be counted as a tardy.
Tardies
3 tardies will be counted as an absence. As stated below, you will have __ absences for the year.
Late Work and Make-up Tests
Late work will be accepted but at a 10-point penalty each consecutive day it is late. Remembering that any grade is better than a zero, it will be important to take advantage of this. If you have to miss a test you can schedule a time to make it up with me. I will need to be notified within the week though since the longer it takes for you to make up you test the longer it takes me to hand back tests. Cooperation on these matters will be greatly appreciated.
Absences
Students are allowed __ absences throughout the year. I will a folder in my room designated for the work done on days which students might be absent on. I will also have class notes for the days which you miss. These will be uploaded on my teacher website (link provided in the parent letter). If you let me know in advance, I can gather a ‘while you were gone’ packet. You will have as many days as you were absent to complete absent work with no penalties to your grade.
