The Rope Broke

I had worked so hard to make everything nice and clean.

But do you think they noticed?

All they saw was the dirt.

I was so tired of doing things and not being given any credit for my hard work.

I just couldn't take it anymore.

I walked to the porch and grabbed that old rickety stool and rope off that rusted hook.

Heading to the backyard I began mumbling to myself, why does it always have to be me;

Why do I have to do the same work over again?

Once I got in the backyard I took that rope and threw it across that beam.

I made sure that I hung it really high.

Then I tied it really tight as I put pressure on it to make sure it would hold.

Then I took the stool to the other end and did the same

I was going to make sure this time they noticed my work.

When I jumped off that stool, all I felt was peace as the wind was blowing across me.

I looked up one last time at how clear the sky was in the backdrop

It was a wondrous sight and then...

.. the rope broke.

Clothespins went flying everywhere!!

All my hard work was for nothing!!!

I couldn't believe I had to wash clothes all over again.
