I cannot heal the wounds that remain ... A Shadows and Light Poetry Entry
Stained

Through my window pane, motley and splattered,
I watch the rain in its pure cleansing fall.
It beats a tattoo, memory’s heartbeat.
It whispers ”untrue” in a captious voice.

Deluged by my sin, the hurt overtakes
my strength within as tears fill my eyes.
By my own hand, I destroyed the beauty
of our love and the bond that our hearts shared.

Yet I cannot heal the wounds that remains
nor the way that you feel, void of all trust.
My eyes mirror the rain but do not clean
leaving only pain to torment my soul.

Through my window pane, motley and splattered,
I envy the rain in its cleansing fall.
