What my mom and sister must have felt like ….
I envy you,
The ones who can sing and dance and run with the wind.

I envy you,
The ones who can laugh without sharp shooting pain.

I envy you,
The ones who do not cough in harsh agonizing gasps for air.

I envy you,
The ones who raise their arms in victory, not to help breathe.

I envy you,
The ones who have organs without cancer.

I envy you,
The ones whose bones are not breaking from cancer’s insidious appetite.

I envy you,
The ones who can live outside a doctor’s dictated schedule.

I envy you,
The ones who do not live at an insurance company’s whim.

My time may be short, or it may be long.
I know where I am going though I do not know the time.

I may get used to aches and pains, or I may not.
I know there is no pain or hurt in the Savior’s warm embrace.

Do not weep for me, I will be okay.
All is right with my soul.
