We all know the feeling of sadness and loneliness... But there's a twist.
Sheltered by only a thin,
Tattered,
Destroyed,
And ripped cloak.
The girl trudged through the snow.
It made her stumble,
The mountainous piles,
Even pushing her down to her knees.
She felt buried alive by the snow.

The land was bare of anything living,
And no other human was present.
Only a half-dead conifer stood.
It was a desolate waste.
The girl was all alone.
Falling to her knees,
Her orbs scanned the land.
Nothing.
Left alone to face the unbeatable snow.
Left alone to perish.

Her head fell,
The cold seeped through her clothes.
It was so, so cold.
So cold…
It was the only thing she could feel.
The wind tore through the cloak,
Obliterating the small amount of protection.
So, so cold…

Small shoulders shaking violently,
Hands clenched on the fabric,
She raised her head defiantly.
The snow sat passively on the ground,
Seeming like a never-ending expanse.
Could she beat it,
This arctic land of desolation?
But she knew it had an end.
The ice land had to!

Pushing herself up,
Oh- How impossible it felt…
Nearly tumbling back down,
Back down to the biting snow.
She got to her feet.
Eyes flashing with triumph,
The girl glared at her surroundings.
It was only one, pathetic step,
But…
The step could change everything.
