A rap I wrote for a challenge that deals with the ambiguity of relationships
you probably already know the truth
but you know what? so what
nothing’s what it seems

but I’m the girl of your dreams
I’m your adrenaline
your drug, your ritalin
keep you woke and focused
we’re both the same brand of so sick
you need something real
when it’s really hard to feel
and I’ve offered you such a deal

you probably already know the truth
but you know what? so what
nothing’s what it seems

you’re the licking slicking flames
and I’m the gasoline
let’s light the match
and never look back
or you can live in complacency
put alcohol in place of me
and live life in a daydream fantasy
but I don’t live in what if’s
I don’t dwell in should’a beens
I’m bigger than the fear of the abyss
I’m better than the sum of my sins

you probably already know the truth
but you know what? so what
nothing’s what it seems

what if I told you I love you
what would you do then
if you were staring down the barrel of the start
when you’re so used to looking at the end
would you see me for what I could be
or would you still call me a friend
