It can't rain all the time
Rainbows End

For seven weeks the rain fell
Acid from the sky
Bleeding out in rainbows
With colours running dry

Colours sun bleached, mailed
Expressed in times of greed
With pots of gold long sailed
From harbours of great need

With winds long strong and stable
From the many not the few
To off shore sheltered havens
With money old and new

With knots measured by ley lines
Imagined, rigged in tides
With fathomed numbers, confines
In water, truths reside

As pirates plough the high seas
Living lives so low
Closets full of golden keys
Their skeletons on show

In Davy Jones's locker
The prior tenants dwell
With bones picked clean, a shocker
and profits in the shell

Shells of lost ideals,
Accessible to all
Chipped away for real
and lost in Siren's calls

Singing through austerity
The guardians have sung
Masking for posterity
A future, drawn and hung

So peaceful on the surface,
yet barren underneath
To reach the bottom, worth it,
by selling off the reef

With water pooling shallow
Coloured rain, it does descend
Acidic, blue, red... yellow
… falling till the rainbow's end
