The horror of conflict portrayed in a simple limerick.
His head aches and he cries in agony, blood gushes from his deep wounds,
He tries to scream, but his throat will not work, he makes not a sound.
He watches as his comrades fall,
There descent to the devil's hall.
Death is all he has seen, the glory that is spoken of he has not found.
