Children enjoy the smallest of things

A petal descends towards earth,
Sailing from its sun-yellow sisters.
The green a newborn creation.
It's black-eyed beauty now a shadow

Six-legged red shell crawls upon it,
Reaching out to the silhouette,
Craving to be closer to the rays,
Aiming to bathe in them.

A whisper through the lea.
Petal and rider wafted away.
A boat and it's sailor,
Voyaging on gentle currents.

Two eyes full of wonder,
Observing the whimsical commotion.
Ten petite fingers extend.
The gliding vessel shipwrecked.

Polka-dotted traveler tumbles softly,
Limbs waving emptiness,
Environment moistens.
Sunshine obscured by white.

A sputtering,
Followed by giggling.
