A guy who has to make a difficult choice for himself and his future.
She walked up to me, looked pretty as she can be,
Looking up to me, she could hardly even speak,
She knew that I was leaving, but didn't want me to go,
But I have to because I still have to grow,

I'm not a man yet, and I promise to be back,
It won't be long, you can bet your life on that,
Her face filled with tears, my mind filled with fears,
But this here is necessary, I have to change my gears,

I have to build my mind to that of a better form,
Because that is the only way that WE can weather the storm,
I started classes today, but to her, it didn't matter,
My first time leaving her, she didn't want the bond to shatter,

She stepped back and nodded, she finally understood,
Then she smiled and waved to me, everything was good,
I told her, "I love you! I hope you know that."
She said, "I know daddy, me and mom will be here when you get back."
