For the people forgotten in prison.

I'm not who you think I am
who you want me to be
life in a cage subjugates
days spent in anger
I've grown to embrace the change
someone new behind this stranger
I love this life I used to hate
the man beyond this face
no excuses left to mask
for questions asked and answered
if you took the time you'd see
this is me, the real me
no counterfeit or forgery
the callousness and imagery is gone
a fallacy has fallen on a new day
where breaking dawn
shines a light to show the way
to different paths and different scenes
departed thoughts to separate dreams
I shouldn't be discarded
thrown away or dismissed
it's fortunate to fantasize
of a life lived such as this
and God standing with
