a poem i wrote about wanting the kind of simple purpose nature seems to have i guess.
I just wish the world would swallow me up
is this a phrase mostly associated to people with a half empty cup?

Because the same thought settles in my mind as I sit beside a blazing fire
I look down and find half a mug of hot tea still to be drunk
so many days I wish I was drunk

the phrase means something different to me
I burn my mouth on hot tea.

I just wish the world would swallow me up
and deep in its belly I wouldn’t give up
I would listen to everything the world has to say
let it convince me that each day is a great day.

And when we had had our chat it would spit me right back
but I would feel closer to the world safe in gravity’s hold.

Remember that feeling of earth all around?
Hearing the grounds words with never a sound

I will always know that feeling
but not from oblivion caused by grieving
like being held by a mother's arm
sweet serenity
such calm

I just wish the world would swallow me up
so she could remind me to never give up.
