Remembering Lynda Miller, a spirited Friend of Writing.Com and writers like me.

Thaw!
Let them wake
Crack!
My words ache
when I look out my window
and you're still not there

Renewal is as hard
as the ground
you lie beneath

How can I warm you
like you once did
for this unyielding seed?

Thaw!
Let them rise
Break!
My dry eyes
peer from this kitchen post
fearing you're just a ghost

How can I warm you
like you did once
if just in neglectful memory?

Crash!
Clanging metal begs my ear
Dig!
The spade drives deep and near
thrashing in your dust
hoping to find you again

Renewal is as hard
as the soul beneath barren earth
dry as these toilsome eyes

Pray
Gentle, you rest
Sleep
Dream in your nest
A benign soul takes wing
to never touch this earth again

She was my shadow and my light

Quiet  (E)
It did get quiet...for my departed friend, Lynda Miller.
