A poem I wrote in 5 minutes after today's London marathon, 2016 (Poem 3)
Virgin London Marathon

Once again April comes around,
for those who will forever run.
forever runners that is what they are,
for they run for all our loved one's.

Kenya is the norm for gold,
but at the start it is always cold.
halfway and were getting warmer,
Big Ben looms and now it is a scorcher.

For those who run in fancy dress,
they do this trying not to impress.
but to press on in their quest for gold,
medal, t-shirt and goodie bag they hold.

And once again for why we run,
we run for the ones that have gone.
gone but never to be forgotten,
in the memories that is the London Marathon.
