My other passion is sewing quilts.
The Scrappy Quilt
by
E.C.Wesch

This tiny scrap of cotton,
With flowers pink and yellow.
Are sewn beside a satin strip,
Of colors soft, and mellow.

A purple square, deep and rich,
Sewn over in the corner.
Came from grandma's favorite blouse,
Now silently, I mourn her.

My green and blue plaid cotton dress,
That I no longer wear.
Is pieced beside my father's jeans,
I stole from off his chair.

My sister's favorite nightshirt,
Made of the softest flannel.
Is sewn with love in every stitch,
Completing the final panel.

Some fabrics brought me laughter,
Some filled my eyes with tears.
This quilt is filled with memories,
That span a hundred years.
