The Naturals aren't supposed to work on active cases, but in book two, they are drawn into a case unfolding right now. One of the two profilers on the team is the son of a serial killer... a serial killer who made his son watch and trained him to carry on the "good" work.

Now, there is a series of copy cat murders, all resembling the serial killer dad's crimes. Given the teen's profiling skills and intimate knowledge of the crimes being copied, the FBI pulls him and the other Naturals into the case.

Crime mystery... serial killer stuff... and again, it has sort of a superhero vibe with each Natural having a specialty and backstory.

Well, this is the backstory for Dean... the brooding, dark profiler and first person in the Naturals program. We got hints of his background in book one, and this book explores it more fully. It also sees the team branching out on their own (and against orders).

It also develops their adult handlers' backstories who, as it turns out, were the ones who arrested Dean's father.

Nothing. It had a few boring moments, but it was still a page-turner, easy read sort of book.
