The time-out issue happens when you're not actively requesting page-loads from the site.

Typing on one page does not interact with the site (just with your browser), so doesn't keep the session active. There are only a few places on the site where timing out is an issue. Book entries happen to be one of them.


Software and drivers on new equipment usually need to be updated because they're from the date of manufacture (or even the date the product was designed), not from the date of sale. Because of security issues especially, it's important to check for updates asap.
