I agree with Fred. One of the best things you can get from this site is specific feedback for your writing. So put it up there and hope for some reviews.
You mentioned you write science fiction. The Fantasy and Science Fiction Society (FSFS) is a great group for discussing the genre with like-minded writers, and probably a good place to get advice as well.
