"Resurrection Jukebox" [E] "Baker Street" (1978) by Gerry Rafferty (1947-2011) Winding your way down on Baker Street Light in your head and dead on your feet Well, another crazy day You'll drink the night away And forget about everything This city desert makes you feel so cold It's got so many people, but it's got no soul And it's taken you so long To find out you were wrong When you thought it held everything You used to think that it was so easy You used to say that it was so easy But you're trying, you're trying now Another year and then you'd be happy Just one more year and then you'd be happy But you're crying, you're crying now Way down the street there's a light in his place He opens the door, he's got that look on his face And he asks you where you've been You tell him who you've seen And you talk about anything He's got this dream about buying some land He's gonna give up the booze and the one-night stands And then he'll settle down In some quiet little town And forget about everything But you know he'll always keep moving You know he's never gonna stop moving 'Cause he's rolling, he's the rolling stone And when you wake up, it's a new morning The sun is shining, it's a new morning And you're going, you're going home Winding down Light in your head Another crazy day Drink the night away Forget everything Feel so cold So many people, no soul Think, say, trying now Another year and then you'd be happy One more year and then you'd be happy, now Way down there's a light Open the door His face, this dream Up the booze, settle down Forget everything Keep moving Never gonna stop Wake up The sun is shining ** Image ID #2233645 Unavailable ** |

Mississippi Goddam (1964) by Nina Simone (1933–2003) The name of this tune is Mississippi goddam And I mean every word of it Alabama's gotten me so upset Tennessee made me lose my rest And everybody knows about Mississippi goddam Alabama's gotten me so upset Tennessee made me lose my rest And everybody knows about Mississippi goddam Can't you see it Can't you feel it It's all in the air I can't stand the pressure much longer Somebody say a prayer Alabama's gotten me so upset Tennessee made me lose my rest And everybody knows about Mississippi goddam This is a show tune But the show hasn't been written for it, yet Hound dogs on my trail School children sitting in jail Black cat cross my path I think every day's gonna be my last Lord have mercy on this land of mine We all gonna get it in due time I don't belong here I don't belong there I've even stopped believing in prayer Don't tell me I tell you Me and my people just about due I've been there so I know They keep on saying 'Go slow!' But that's just the trouble 'Do it slow' Washing the windows 'Do it slow' Picking the cotton 'Do it slow' You're just plain rotten 'Do it slow' You're too damn lazy 'Do it slow' The thinking's crazy 'Do it slow' Where am I going What am I doing I don't know I don't know Just try to do your very best Stand up be counted with all the rest For everybody knows about Mississippi goddam I made you thought I was kiddin' Picket lines School boy cots They try to say it's a communist plot All I want is equality For my sister my brother my people and me Yes you lied to me all these years You told me to wash and clean my ears And talk real fine just like a lady And you'd stop calling me Sister Sadie Oh but this whole country is full of lies You're all gonna die and die like flies I don't trust you any more You keep on saying 'Go slow!' 'Go slow!' But that's just the trouble 'Do it slow' Desegregation 'Do it slow' Mass participation 'Do it slow' Reunification 'Do it slow' Do things gradually 'Do it slow' But bring more tragedy 'Do it slow' Why don't you see it Why don't you feel it I don't know I don't know You don't have to live next to me Just give me my equality Everybody knows about Mississippi Everybody knows about Alabama Everybody knows about Mississippi goddam, that's it. Lesson 1. Discussion. http://writetodone.com/31-ways-to-find-inspiration-for-your-writing/ Blog/writing journal: I try to blog every day with "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" [13+] and if possible various other blogging groups. It helps me stay focussed on writing. Music: I listen to music but not that often. But I find when I do, it inspires me a lot. I plan to listen more to music. Youtube for instance when I am working the computer. Free Writing: This is a wonderful tool to keep on writing no matter what. A lot is bound to be garbage but sometimes there is that one line I like. Lesson One – Noveling Exercise - Part A: Finding Inspiration. Note 1: Tuesday evening, 22:10 hrs. Sitting on a bench near the water. Sounds drifting above the open water. Kids shouting, talking, laughing. Passing on the other side of the water on their bikes. Water is soothing, it calms me. Wind through my hair. Beautiful sky with clouds above the water. Note 2: Wednesday 9:30 hrs. An ambulance with flashing lights (no siren) passing the waterfront of the canal. |

I found this online writing course for free here at WdC by Katzendragonz . Great! Starting today. I want to write a novel like so many of us, but I didn't know where and how to start. This online course will be a great help. I can feel it. It will inspire me tremendously and it will (hopefully) get my Muse into gear. I can use all the help I can get. |
Lou Reed, Walk on the Wild Side – 1972 Artist of an era. I loved his music and his voice. Raw material and I was a fan. February 28 |
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Under the Bridge – 2009 I secretly had a crush on the lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Great voice, great body. February 27 |
Simply Red, Holding Back The Years - 2018 Music is not a big deal in my life. So, when a song is still somewhere in the back of my mind it means something. I love this song. It reminds me of my past when I was younger when Life was busy but pleasant. February 26 |
Opus, Live is Life, 2007 Just a little nothing in music, but it kept me humming all day when I heard it on the radio. Sometimes it’s just fun to sing along with a song like this. February 25 |
Joe Jackson, Is She Really Going Out With Him? In my younger years, I was a huge fan of Joe Jackson. I bought all his LPs and listen to all of his music. I saw him once in Amsterdam on stage. A great evening. I cherish the memory. February 24 |
Melissa Etheridge, Like The Way I Do – 1988 Etheridge was one of the great singer/songwriters I saw in real life when she was on tour in Europe. A great event, a big stage with a table and a chair and Melissa Etheridge with her guitar. A great evening with friends. February 23 |
Peter Hamill, The Love Song - 2011 I remember sitting on a rock in Greece near the sea listening tot his song. It was enchanting. So beautiful. And every time I hear this sound I am back in Greece. It’s been a while since I was on holiday somewhere on the Greek islands. I am planning to visit again in the near future. February 22 |
